Opinel
The Opinel originates in France at the end of the nineteenth century. In his father’s workshop, the eighteen-year-old Joseph Opinel designed a simple and robust folding knife in 1890. The French company Opinel is family-owned from the beginning, in 1890, until this day. The handle is made of beech wood, the blade is made of carbon steel. The handle of the knife is made of beech wood, the blade is made of carbon steel. In recent years, Opinel has launched numerous variations of the basic model on the market.
The symbol of the main couronnée (“the crowned hand”) was already stamped on the first Opinel knives. Later, the words OPINEL and FRANCE were added. The Opinel is now known around the globe and is spread in millions of times. Especially in the country of origin France, the Opinel is considered a classic of everyday culture.
